Ultherapy (Prime)
Also known as: Ultherapy
Korean name: 울쎄라, 울쎄라피, 울쎄라피 프라임, 원조 HIFU
About this procedure
Merz equipment from the USA. It visualizes up to 8mm depth in real-time with DeepSEE ultrasound imaging, allowing for treatment while observing the SMAS layer, which distinguishes it from general HIFU. It delivers heat of 65-70℃ to the SMAS (4.5mm) and dermis (3.0/1.5mm).
Who it's for
Facial sagging, double chin, sagging jawline, loss of elasticity
Effect
Aims to improve elasticity and refine lines. Immediate contraction of the SMAS leads to some changes right after treatment, with significant results over 2-3 months. Clinical studies cited by the manufacturer report up to 42% increase in new collagen and 86% eyebrow lifting response — Manufacturer's figures may vary by individual.
How long results last
Approximately 12-18 months based on manufacturer-cited clinical data. Some domestic sources suggest 6 months to 1 year — Conflicting sources.
Anesthesia
Topical (basic), with some clinics offering local anesthesia (lidocaine injection) or sedation depending on pain level (general standard, confirmation with the clinic needed).
Downtime
Normal daily activities possible immediately after, with minor swelling and pain lasting 1-3 days.
Recommended stay in Korea
1-2 days (general standard, confirmation with the clinic needed). Actual schedule to be confirmed during clinic consultation.
Often combined with
Combined with Thermage ('Ulthermage') and confirmed documentation for combination with Sofwave.
Alternative procedures
Shurink (domestic, lower cost, less pain), Sofwave (targets dermis at 1.5mm).
Cautions
Pain and swelling perception can vary. UV exposure and smoking can affect collagen breakdown.
Aftercare
UV protection, moisturizing, and avoiding smoking.
