Double Eyelid — Non-Incision Method
Korean name: 비절개 쌍꺼풀, 쌍꺼풀 — 매몰법
About this procedure
A method of creating a double eyelid line by tying the inside of the eyelid with thread without cutting the skin. It causes less tissue damage than the incision method.
Who it's for
Relatively suitable for those with less eyelid fat and minimal skin sagging (consultation at the hospital is necessary depending on individual eye conditions)
Effect
Aimed at forming a double eyelid line, with results varying by individual. It has been reported that the line may fade or disappear if the thread loosens.
How long results last
Semi-permanent (re-surgery required if the thread loosens — not permanently fixed)
Anesthesia
Local anesthesia (whether to use sedation varies by hospital but has not been officially confirmed)
Downtime
Significant swelling for 2 weeks to 1 month, minor swelling reported for 2 to 6 months
Hospital stay
Same-day (non-hospitalization)
Stitch removal
No separate stitch removal as it is a non-incision method (knots are maintained inside the body)
Swelling timeline
1 week — significant reduction in swelling, 2 weeks to 1 month — level that does not interfere with daily activities, 2 to 6 months — complete disappearance of minor swelling
Recommended stay in Korea
3 to 5 days (general guideline, hospital confirmation needed). Actual schedule to be confirmed during hospital consultation.
Alternative procedures
Incision method — while the non-incision method causes less tissue damage and has a faster recovery, it has limited correction range for the eye shape; the incision method offers the opposite.
Aftercare
Cold compress for 48 hours post-surgery, followed by warm compress. It is recommended to avoid sweating exercises, saunas, and jjimjilbangs for about 4 weeks.
